| 157. Bare Trees Watercolor, shows a barn behind a stand of bare trees. Apparently the unused corral around the barn has grown up in trees due to disuse. From an article in the newspaper by Tim Wall, Star Tribune. Clipping in Naegle Family Collection If you own this painting a color image would be appreciated. |

| 158. The Craftsman - Abstract "...that reminds me of another painting that was in my grandfather's house, which I'll call "Craftsman". It was an abstract painting of a man working with a piece of wood. The impression is that he was planing a board, in terms of the stance of his arms and shoulders, and the concentrated look on his face. However, there was not a tool evident, and his hand was only suggested by a sort of shoehorn shape in contact with the wood. I seem to remember sort of a cloak.. I remember that I didn't like either the Jester or this painting as a kid, because I didn't understand the emotions the painting was trying to invoke. I do remember being surprised, on a later visit, at how much more I liked it as an adult. But there was the same curved brushwork in that painting. The painting was about 14" x 20", taller than it was wide, but that might have included a mounting, which I cannot recall at all." David Naegle |
