4. Mushrooms in Glory 1971, 22" x 17", watercolor, Dardanelle, Arkansas
5. South toward Skyline This painting was a demonstration during Stephen's watercolor class at Arkansas Tech in 1971. It was a view out the second story of the Art room which was housed in an old rock Maintenance Building on the campus. Stephen refused to sign the painting, after borrowing my paper for the demo.
6. Forgotten Fall Watercolor of a hay derrick, barns, and fencing. The scene appears to be a deserted ranch, great yellow foliage against a mountain setting, signed Naegle, 1972. In an email November 5, 2006 comes the information that the machine to the right of the barn is a hay derrick. The only experience I had was that it might be a horse walker to exercise horses on a horse ranch. Thanks to Cherrie and Than for filling me in on what it is. We know one thing for sure, it caught Stephen's eye.
7. Fried Egg Sky A whimsical name for this great watercolor. It exhibits the talent for which Stephen was famous, Thickets, or forest, tree, or brush detail in his work. Thanks Stephen for sharing your talent and your life.
Sky of Fried Egg Sky detail. This surreal painting is a delightful display of color, whimsey, detail, and the thicket theme Naegle loved.
